Submission of Registration Forms: To avoid the late registration fee ($25), the form below should be received no later than April 1, 2012. It is appreciated if you register well before the deadline, since this facilitates planning. After you electronically submit the online form, an e-mail confirming your registration will automatically be sent to you

A later e-mail from Phil Mullins will be sent confirming the amount due. Since it is possible that some details about your projected travel and housing arrangements may change, you can work directly with Mullins to determine the correct payment due. You can directly contact Phil Mullins at mullins@missouriwestern.edu or at 816-244-2612.

Housing: The conference is at the Water Tower Loyola University campus (820 N. Michigan Ave.) where we are guaranteed accommodations for 40 participants in Baumhart Hall (26 E. Pearson St—the corner of Wabash and Pearson). Although we may be able to acquire additional housing, this is not guaranteed; accommodations will be allocated in terms of when registration forms are received.

The room rates (single occupancy:$144.25/day and double occupancy: $86.55/day) are the basic Conference Center rates and include 15.4% tax. On a space available basis, housing can be booked for Thurs. June 7 and Sunday, June 10 to accommodate those with difficult flight schedules and/or those who wish to go on the conference-sponsored visit to the Michael Polanyi Papers (housed in the Special Collections Research Center, University of Chicago Library,1100 East 57th Street,Chicago, Illinois 60637) on the morning of Friday, June 8. Information about the trip to the Special Collections Research Center will be provided to anyone who indicates an interest on the registration form. If you have special housing needs, contact Phil Mullins.

A later e-mail to conference participants will provide instructions about (1) how to take public transportation from Chicago airports to Baumhart Hall (2 blocks from an el stop) as well as (2) how to drive to Baumhart Hall. Parking is available (http://www.luc.edu/parking/watertower.shtml) in any of several nearby downtown garages. Although a daytime parking discount may be available for conference participants, Loyola does not own the parking facilities and individual facility regulations and overnight downtown parking fees (often steep) will apply. Parking at the Lake Shore Loyola campus or outside of downtown is an option.

Board: The Conference Center operates a common cafeteria serving guests at all conferences meeting on the same days. Individuals can simply go through the cafeteria line for any meals and pay for choices with cash. Estimated costs are as follows: breakfast--$5-$8; lunch--$8-$10; dinner--$10-12. At earlier Loyola conferences, participants reported that opportunities for conversation with other participants in the cafeteria was an important element of the conference. Convivial meals should again be possible. As the online registration form notes, there will be a banquet (a buffet with several options) with a plenary speaker on the evening of Saturday, June 9.

Payment: The Polanyi Society can no longer inexpensively and efficiently process credit cards. Payment should be made by check (to the Polanyi Society) by April 15, 2012; send checks to:
