The Church is an n-dimensional mystery. To understand what we believe, we must co-ordinate past, present, and the future from an eternal perspective. We study history both in its original context, asking the great question, "What did they know and when did they know it?", and we also study what has unfolded since then and what has been revealed to us of what will be. One vantage point does not blot out the others, though it may, perhaps, obscure other points of view momentarily.
