Headed to the Petrified Forest/Painted Desert. Nice landscapes, pretty colors, a lot of petrified trees. Very windy, sunny, and cold. Saw Meteor Crater about 50 miles east of Flagstaff, Awesome but a bit pricey at $13 per person. As we got to Flaggstaff, started seeing Ponderosa pines. Farmers fields under 3 feet of water. Huge expanses of water where it should not be. Drove through smokey mountain park in NC and stopped at a gem mine to check it out, kind of hokey, accidentally set off car alarm in the quiet parking lot - beat it hastily out of there. went into Georgia a tad, then back into NC to stay at Andy's trout farm and resort.
