Edward B. Marks Ed Marks, a founding member of The Oyster Foundation, died peacefully on October 8th with his wife Vera at his bedside in Mill Valley, California. In his long life, Eddie made important contributions to people all over the world through his work with refugees. He consistently raised the mood of his friends and family through his good nature and sharp humor. He was a terrific writer, as he demonstrated at our initial meeting in Paris. And he wrote several books, the last, Still Counting, a memoir, appearing less than a year ago. There was nothing about him that wasn't pleasant and admirable. The theme of his life was, as he writes, "helping people in limbo to get back on track." It was a joy and a privilege to know him. His wife can be reached at verajbarad@aol.com. Stephen Banker
