Wayne and I spent a summer together at my family's camp near Little Valley, NY, back in 1965 (1964?). He had just finished a tour of duty with the Air Force and I was entering eighth grade. Dad hired him to help rebuild the barn. We did a pretty good job on the walls and doors, but neglected the roof. The barn had fallen down by the time I started taking care of the camp in 1991.
Wayne had a small wooden boat. He taught me how to water ski that summer. He stored the boat in the barn for a while. I helped Wayne drive his car and boat down to Asheville, N.C., in the early 70s. That was the last time I saw him until Dad's funeral in 2006.
Wayne is President of the U.S. Board for the African Medical Mission.
