I pretty much hate numerology. It seems to inspire the very worst excesses of uncontrolled Biblical speculation.
Nevertheless, many of the inspired authors of Scripture give meaning to numbers or expect their audience to recognize the meaning of various and sundry numbers. Understanding this literary device is essential to understanding those passages in the Scriptures.
