Gracious and Holy Father,
give us wisdom to perceive you,
intellect to understand you,
diligence to seek you,
patience to wait for you,
eyes to behold you,
a heart to meditate upon you,
and a life to proclaim you
through the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Inscriptions on the Cross of St. Benedict

The Cross of our holy father Benedict

Peace.

May we be strengthened by his presence in the hour of our death.

May the holy cross be my light. May the dragon never be my guide.

Begone, Satan. Never tempt me with your vanities. What you offer me is evil. Drink the poison yourself!

Composite Prayer

Begone, Satan.
Never tempt me with your vanities.
What you offer me is evil.
Drink the poison yourself!

Gracious and Holy Father,
give us wisdom to perceive You,
intelligence to understand You,
diligence to seek You,
patience to wait for You,
eyes to behold You,
hearts to meditate upon You,
and life to proclaim You
through the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ our Lord.

May we be strengthened by Jesus in the hour of our death,
may His holy cross be our light,
may the dragon never be our guide,
and may we dwell in the peace of Christ today.

Father, grant us all these blessings in Jesus' Name.

Amen.
