O Saint Francis Xavier,
well-loved and full of love,
in union with you,
I reverently adore the Divine Majesty;
mindful of the special graces
God bestowed on you during your life
and your gifts of glory after death,
I give Him heartfelt thanks
for all that He has done in and through you.
Therefore, I beseech you
with all my heart's devotion
to be pleased to obtain for me
by your powerful intercession,
above all things,
the grace of a holy life and a happy death.
I pray that you will ask God to give me
what I desire in this novena.
But if what I ask of you so earnestly
does not tend to the glory of God
and the greater good of my soul,
please pray that God may grant me
what is more profitable to both of these ends.
Amen.
