Dez and Julie were on their way to a bar mitzvah in Detroit, so I drove them to the airport. I took I-5 halfway through Washington, then turned off the expressway back onto my old friend, route 101, along the sound. In Port Angeles, I caught the last ferry of the day with just minutes to spare. I was surprised how much the ferry rolled in what looked like relatively calm water. People assure me that this is a real water taxi and not a toy boat. There is quite a collection of houseboats in Victoria harbor. The road from Victoria to Nanaimo is glorious. Paul told me that the photo below shows the Olympia mountains in the distance. I thought they were clouds. The view from Paul's driveway.
